Usain Bolt (born 1986) is a Jamaican sprinter widely regarded as the
fastest person ever. He is the first man to hold both the 100 meters and
200 meters world records since fully automatic time measurements became
mandatory in 1977. Along with his teammates, he also set the world
record in the 4×100 meters relay. He is the reigning Olympic champion in
these three events, the first man to win six Olympic gold medals in
sprinting, and an eight-time World champion. He was the first to achieve
a "double double" by winning 100 m and 200 m titles at consecutive
Olympics (2008 and 2012), and topped this through the first "double
triple" (including 4×100 m relays). Although gaining worldwide
popularity for a sprint double victory at the Beijing Games, Bolt has
had more victories as 200 m runner. While he had not won any significant 100 m title prior to the 2008 Olympics, he had won numerous crowns in the 200 m event at the youth, junior and senior levels. Further, at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Bolt completed a hat-trick of 200 m world titles by winning his 3rd straight gold in the event. His 2009 record breaking margin for 100 m, from 9.69 seconds (his own previous world record) to 9.58, is the highest since the start of fully automatic time measurements. Bolt's achievements in sprinting have earned him the media nickname "Lightning Bolt", and awards including the IAAF World Athlete of the Year, Track & Field Athlete of the Year, and Laureus Sportsman of the Year (three times). He is the highest paid athlete ever in track and field. He has been called the world's most marketable athlete. By winning 3 gold medals at the 2013 World Championships, Bolt became the most successful athlete in the 30-year history of the athletics world championships. Adam Lee Thompson (born 1992) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Southend United on loan from Championship side Watford. A graduate of Watford's youth academy, he made his professional debut for the club in 200, and his senior international debut for Northern Ireland the following year. 6'5" David Denton (born 1990) is a Scottish rugby union player who plays for Edinburgh Rugby in the RaboDirect Pro2 and Heineken Cup. He plays in the back row, starting 8 for Scotland, but can be played in the second row. 6'5" Joseph Mauer (born 1983) is an American baseball catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Minnesota Twins. He is the only catcher in MLB history to win three batting titles. He also won three consecutive Gold Glove awards (2008–2010), and the 2009 American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award. Mauer modeled for Perry Ellis in the 2004–05 off-season, and is featured in television commercials for Head & Shoulders, Pepsi, ESPN, Fox Sports Net, PlayStation 3, Gatorade and my29. Mauer's Quickswing Camp is held annually in the winter at a St. Paul area college. The camp teaches youth the basics of batting skills. Mauer taped an episode of Homecoming with Rick Reilly for ESPN on January 27, 2010 at Cretin-Derham Hall High School, his alma mater, in St. Paul, Minnesota. The episode aired on April 2, 2010. Mauer appeared in a TV commercial for Explore Minnesota, the state tourism agency, in March 2011. Mauer is also recognized for the long sideburns that he has worn ever since joining the big leagues. On August 0, 2006, the Minnesota Twins held "Joe Mauer Sideburns Night" in honor of the catcher. The first 10,000 fans were given synthetic replica sideburns with double-sided tape to share in Mauer's trademark look. Marco Wentzel (born 1979 in George, Western Cape, South Africa) is a rugby union player, formerly with Leicester Tigers, and also Leeds Carnegie in the Aviva Premiership, and now plying his trade with London Wasps, joining fellow teammate Steve Thompson at the Wycombe based club.
