Willy Monfret is a 6'4" international Model/DJ, born and raised in Paris. Modelling takes very little talent, and DJing music takes even less, so
he does both.
According to his website "He
studied at the famous French business school Leonard de Vinci and got
his Master Degrees in Management. Willy started modeling for Karin
Models in Paris, shooting for international brands, such as Ralph
Lauren, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, Vogue, Benetton, Carrera & L’Oreal.
Prior to his modeling career he was an athlete, running for the French
National Team. It was however the interesting combination of his unique
appearance and his talent for DJ-ing that made him rise. As a model with a
very promising career, Willy has worked for various prestigious brands
and even landed on the cover of international magazines, such as GQ and
Men’s Health. Due to his rising modelling career he has travelled
through Australia, Hong Kong and South Africa, doing campaigns for
brands such as Giordano and LG. During this experience he discovered his
newfound passion for DJ-ing, which led to his first residency at ‘Club
Volar’ in Hong Kong. After moving to New York his interesting look was immediately noticed by
world famous rapper and pop star, Nicki Minaj. He had the lead role in
her ‘Right Tru Me’ music video and also modeled for P. Diddy’s brand
‘Sean John’. Willy opened the Cannes Film Festival and released his
first track ‘Fux’, featuring GLOWINTHEDARK. Currently, he is
working on his first short film and on his music with several
international producers. "
He is the only child of
a French mother and a father from the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe.
Growing up, a lot of his childhood was spent playing basketball and
soccer and he credits sports with teaching him some of the best life
lessons. Some of his favorite childhood memories include regular Sunday
break dancing with friends, where, according to Willy, his version of
break dancing looked more like freestyle capoeira combined with some of
Will Smith’s moves on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Currently, Willy is
signed to Wilhelmina Models and Red Model Management but he is also a
sought after DJ in places like Hong Kong and South Africa. As a DJ, his
music reflects his upbringing and includes Caribbean influences combined
with soul, house music and hip hop. But before he was traveling the
globe and working with some of the top names in fashion like Calvin
Klein and Hugo Boss, Willy was an all-star athlete with a promising
future as a professional track & field sportsman. A career-ending injury
brought a sudden end to his dream however and ultimately changed the
course of his life. Now, as an international model, he lives his
passions which include meeting new people and seeing new places, of
which he counts Australia and Cape Town, South Africa as among his
favorite. In the future, Willy hopes to pursue acting and says that it
would be an interesting challenge to do so in English which is not his
first language. |
